Consulting Room Hours
George Konidaris (
gdk@cs.umass.edu) will be available in the Consulting Room (220 LGRT) to help you with Eclipse, programming projects and anything else related to Java. His schedule is:
Mon & Wed 9-11
Tues & Thurs 1-3
If you are working on a laptop, bring it in with you. Otherwise, put your source code on your UDrive so George can get at it when you come in.
Prof. Lehnert's office hours are incorrect on the CmpSci 123 handout you got the first day of class. Her real hours are Tues/Thurs 1:30-2:30 in CMPS 234. If these hours do not work for you, send email to
lehnert@cs.umass.edu to schedule a meeting at another time.
It's time to download and install Eclipse. This is our Integrated Development Environment (IDE). It's a great IDE and ... it's free! Here are some good instructions on the installation process (courtesy of the fine folks at CMU):

Concerning the exercises in the text (HFJ): The Course Syllabus lists exercises in the text. You don't need to hand these in, but you do need to do them. This material could easily show up on a pop quiz or a test. So stay on top of things by getting these done on time. If you try to play catch-up, you'll be overwhelmed before you know it.
